As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) I've been involved with many families who had CPS involved in their lives. One time I served a family who was struggling with domestic violence. I also am a pen-pal with inmates who serve life long sentences and one inmate was writing me how as a child he had suffered from his drunk dad who go
As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) I've been involved with many families who had CPS involved in their lives. One time I served a family who was struggling with domestic violence. I also am a pen-pal with inmates who serve life long sentences and one inmate was writing me how as a child he had suffered from his drunk dad who got him out of bed at night to beat him up. He send me a card he made to send to a foster child. I send it to the children I was serving at that time who were enduring the very same the inmate had endured as a child. It was a goodbye card, and contained my goodbye prayer for the children of the family, praying these children would not end up like the inmate who had send me the card. Ever since then I've asked inmates to create cards for CPS and CASA and other professionals to send them as prayers to their clients to create meaningful goodbyes.

The inmates who have created the cards live under dire circumstances, like having no AC when it's 110+ outside, slop for food, lack of hygiene products and they are utterly poor without a source of income. With your help they can buy things like deodorant, ice pops to cool off in the summer, hot soup to warm themselves in the winter, or a book to read. Your help is greatly appreciated.
